Current average for extending is around 1/2 mile per year. Both extensions saw track laying completion a number of years prior to official opening. Thus 4 years for the track, a year or so for fettling, not withstanding completion of bridges and other earthworks.
Costs based on 2012 prices are around £250,000 per mile of completed track, not taking into account trackbed preparation.
Money will be the main driving force for this project.
I'm doing as much as I can, membership plus volunteering at C+W (bit more of a treck to broadway) and of course turning up to all the galas to spend some money :D
As Nigel rightly points out the date of completion will be dependant on the funds available to support the huge investment involved. However we must set ourselves challenging targets and seek to improve on past performances rather than match them. Departments need to pool resources wherever possible so that work on critical activities does not fall behind. Mountains can be moved!
So lets get behind the Bridges to Broadway share offer, let's get behind seeking sponsors, and yes, rattling the tins.
I have donated to Broadway once before and wd like to again, but I prefer to give money to charities where it attracts Gift Aid, How can this be achieved? AM.

I think you'll find it's more like 2-3 years away! 10 years is the honeybourne target I thought?
Quite right - no time for pessimists - 2 -3 years and you can catch the train to Cheltenham, 10 years and you can catch the train to Honeybourne.
So p'way are looking to go a mile a year! I know repairing bridges will be the most costly part, but how much will the actual track cost to get there?

So sounds more like 5-6 years then, depending on how bad the bridges are...
Lets get raising the money, to pump it into the railway. The quicker we raise the money the quicker the railway can extend. Can't Wait!! :D Aaron
