BLUE BRICK APPEAL

Unfortunately we have been victims of our own good progress and we are running low on imperial blue bricks. Many of you have pointed out possible sources and I always follow them up to see if reclamation is possible. I have identified a source of cleaned bricks and, with transport they would cost £750 per thousand, so, as you can imagine I would prefer that we reclaimed our own! Please keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you have identified a possible source.

This may have been mentioned also it may be a bit too far away; at West Ealing there is an old milk dock / goods platforms, which look like blue's to me as I pass it on the train, this will be cleared away when Crossrail build the new bay for the Greenford services

This photo is of its heyday http://www.flickr.com/photos/28083135@N06/5375833175/ but the platforms are still in place and it is away protected the running line by a new passenger platform it also has road access

Lots of GWR bricks coming out of the Reading rebuilding -- anybody have any contacts?

Reading - if anyone can find out any contacts would be a good bet, as not only is there a remainder of the platform buildings on the old platform 5 (centre platform) - possibly a scource of bricks for the building with all the bull nose bricks, but also a wall alongside platform 1 which is likely to be demolished as the new 'passenger transfer deck' (how times have changed!) will take part of its place - good potential scource of reds and blues too!

I will see whether a contact I had at Reading is still on the project.

What about mickelton? The platform edge is decaying. I would have thought they would let us have them.

Hi Bill,

Just been looking around the net, and it seems that the former goods shed in Acton Yard may be up for demolition soon as part of the Acton Freight yard dive under for Crossrail, So that may bring up a good source of red and blue bricks.

And keep up the excellent progress, what with the rapid reconstruction of both Broadway & Chicken Curve, it wont be soon before long before we see the sight of steam and diesels finally re arriving into Broadway once more!
