The sort out.....
An enjoyable day on site with the weather remarkably balmy. There was a select gang of 9 today,  the main efforts were aimed at clearing the ground beyond Platform 1B. We have gradually amassed a stockpile of materials recovered from various sources and we need some visibility of the lay of the land immediately northwards of 1B.  Much of it will have to be shifted with machinery but the assembled troops managed to shift a remarkable amount of stuff, much of it heading for the bonfire.

DB Chief Fire Starter.....

A bonfire is almost compulsory during the Autumn and Winter - there is usually some excuse!

Bull Nose Bricks - Tilly supervising....

The selection of bricks we have would do credit to a big reclamation yard, and although we won't necessarily be able to use them all on site, they might well be used for repair work elsewhere on the railway or indeed we can turn them into cash.

Brick cleaning continued in between time.  It is the staple job - the one we cannot stop! We uncovered two Belfast sinks among the undergrowth and would like to turn them into cash if anyone fancies them.
Yes they're heavy....

As you  can see they are extremely heavy. one is a bit chipped but the other is ok. They would make two very substantial planters.

The original running in board post was stripped down and  coat of primer.  A challenging task this - with only rotary brushes as armament. However by the end of the day it was job done!

Finally Vic was ploughing a lone furrow with tidying up the shrubbery opposite Marguerites. We do our best to keep up appearances - this will be an important task during the building phase- we do not want the site to become a typical building site.

PS £80 of donations from Toddington passed into our coffers yesterday. Much appreciated - 16 bags of cement!

Are some of those bricks from the Winchcombe goods office?

Yes they're mainly in the wall now so you can't have them back!
