Saturday 6th April 2013

It was the AGM of the Broadway Area Group this morning, held in the Broadway Football Club on the Childswickham Road. It was a well attended, lively affair. It's not often you get a chance to thank all the troops at the same time for all their hard work throughout the year. The hospitality at the Football Club was very good and the morning was well spent.

In the afternoon the sun just shone and shone - I hope that warmer, more spring like weather is around the corner. I spoilt myself by just standing and gazing at all of the recent brick work, looking at its best in the sunshine. It was a real treat! What's the best thing to do to celebrate? - get a good bonfire going and that's exactly what I did - very enjoyable.

Roger and John with the most useful tool in the bag!

The lads that stayed on into the afternoon set to on finishing the fencing to the south of the bridge.

Jo and Hilary cracked on with clearing out the border by the car park. Jo was quickly distracted when a benefactor came along with 2 enamel signs, a loco regulator arm, and the letters for "whistle " sign. I am sorry I did not get the name of the gentleman and his wife, but we will put the items to good use one way or another. Thank you.

Robin kept cleaning bricks, and Marguerite and Doreen kept selling.

A thoroughly rewarding day.

I was actually in 'Heelas' in Broad Street, Reading, this afternoon ! Part of the John Lewis group for many years [ and now with the JL fascia ] this sign must be from the far off days when it was an independent ! Chris Crump
