Friday 24th August 2012 - A Great Result!

Well I can't remember when I've enjoyed myself more and hopefully delivered a good result for the Broadway Area Group.

Following on from yesterday the embankment behind 2A was built up to its full height. Here Ron does the final shaping up with the mini excavator and then Mike T  Graham D and Rod set to with rakes to put the finishing touches to it.

Here is the finished result 200 tonnes of soil packed neatly in. Brilliant!

Further down Platform 2 the embankment was similarly levelled/built up/ profiled. In so doing we have cleared sufficient space to both dig a new trench for the footings and also work from behind when brick laying. In the foreground you can see the old footings (no good for re-use).

If I look pretty smug in this one its probably because I am! You think I'd dug it myself!

There was a little time left by mid afternoon so Steve Warren took the stump out of a felled tree in the drive.

A video clip hear, hopefully with no fingers in the way, of Steve dong his aerial maneuvers!!

Thanks to all who help on this exercise - you know who you are and I know who you are - a great job done- enough said!

Maybe a bit late, but I notice that demolition of the coaling stage at Taunton has begun. GWR blue bricks aplenty

We hope to go down there in the next 2 weeks!

Fantastic! I was worried that material useful to your project would go in the skip.
BTW I was told that when the Engine Shed was demolished at Taunton, most of the spoil ended up in the inspection pits so maybe a poke about is in order.
