It was the last scheduled day of work by J & S Piling and the job was completed by lunch time.
Concrete Pour in Progress......

Concrete Pour ... the last drop

Is it level?

Absolutely!

A video too!

It will take about a week for the concrete to cure and then we will remove the shuttering and it will be all systems go for laying the blue sub ground level bricks. Thanks to Jo for the photos and JC and Gord for supervising the final stages...

Is the new signal box going to be in the original location?

Thanks

No. The original Box was south of the Station Road bridge and was there for a good reason at the time as it was positioned to control the goods yard, which is now Worcestershire Caravan Club. It was also an all wooden box. This excellent site tells it all:

Broadway Station will be the first GWSR owned station to have a platform-located signal box although there were others on the North Warwickshire Line further north. This will be an added attraction to visitors as well as being a necessary part of railway operations and I can only congratulate the Broadway team once again for providing us with much good cheer! Well done again folks!

Hi.
What are the three slots, or channels, cast into the top of the slab, for?

My guess they are foundation steels for the interlocking frame, its a big bit of kit

Looking at photo 2 ("...the last drop"), and imagining being raised up to the signalling position, I get the impression that sighting of signals north of the platforms will be blocked by tree branches. Is this an optical illusion? I know it probably won't matter for a few years, but ....
