Broadfest 27th-28th July 2013

Ron makes sure there are no plastic coins in the change.....
I was away this weekend and seem to have missed all the fun and games of Broadfest 2013. This is a new initiative by the Broadway Traders supported by the Parish Council, and if numbers in attendance are anything to go by, it was a highly successful event. The GWR Broadway Area Group were please to play their part, both by having an information stand among the other exhibitors and also taking charge of the car parking at the back of the Lygon Arms, for which we were generously allowed to keep the takings for funding the Station.

Here Stuart advises couple what they
should do if they are  LMS enthusiasts...

These events always  are  always well attended and enjoyable and go to the heart of what Broadway is all about - a  lively and beautiful Cotwold tourist centre. Jo and Hilary Roesen  helped by other members of the team, manned the information tent  for a marathon  2 days and whilst shaking the tin also were able to explain to the passing visitors what the plans are for bringing steam back to Broadway. Almost invariably the plans are well received and people are looking forward to the opportunity of catching a train at Broadway and travelling south to Cheltenham. Others were specifically interested in how they can join the Volunteers and help to make it happen.

A supercharge Bentley will sort the men from the boys......
There is always a chance of seeing some vintage motors in Broadway and, if like me you love the smell of hot engine oil, then Broadway is the place to be.

And for more sedate opulence, the RR....

A big thank you to all the BAG members involved and in particular to John Blofield who did all the organising in the background.
