Only able to work for the morning today, which was entirely spent on double checking the levels of the new Platform 1 and of course the new Station Building. The remainder of the Saturday Gang continued the hard work of laying the foundation blocks for the platform wall. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes!

When do you expect platform 1 to be completed?? Is it going to be brick edged? whats the order of progression? platform 1 then building, then signal box then platform 2+ building? or some other way? how much of this will be there for the opening in 2015?
Hi Gavin, Your pretty much spot on with your sequence of events. However platform 1 will be built in 2 stages. The first will equate to the old platform length of 450ft and the second to extend it to 720ft. The rationale behind this is too complicated to explain here but will be explained in the not too distant future.
The platform wall will be faced with traditional reclaimed Staff. Blues in an English Bond. Our challenge is to make everything as authentic as possible.
Platform 1 and the Station will be finished by 2015 - anything else will be a bonus! Thank you for your interest.
i am really interested in joinin to be honest. just got hold of a new car and its fuel econ is so much better. i work on p way at the churnet but dont really have any skills as such. but im only 24 so i want to learn more skills. i was recently looking at doing either a plumming/electrical or brick laying course, dont know which would be most use at a steam railway tho.
Hi Gavin, I would need to see whether your Churnet work permit would be acceptable to the GWR without re doing the one day course. I'm sure there are lots of opportunities coming up and your youth would be definitely on your side! Perhaps we can take this off line now and correspond through email.
