With a bit of luck and a following wind work is about to commence on rebuilding Platform 1. As the new platform is required to be 220+ metres (715+ feet) a careful review of build options was required in order to ensure the best use of materials. In essence the platform is to be built to the original specification but using concrete blocks beneath the ballast line. The finished platform will require 20,000 Blue Bricks, 15,000 Red Bricks and 10,000 Blocks.The drawing herewith is not an engineering drawing but my best efforts to show what is intended! Excellent news! The sooner the GWR resetablishes its presence permanently at Broadway the better and having Platform 1 rebuilt is the best way to start! Well done to you all for your efforts.
