Email me on r.johnson888@btinternet.com and let me know what you need. She said that a relative had been given them by Broadway Station staff or something like that. I'm sure its on this blog somewhere! In addition to the 2 main large Broadway signs (Running in boards) Broadway, like Toddington, had 2 smaller station signs but I don't think that either Broadway or Toddington ever had the BR pattern "totem" enamel signs that were a feature of many stations in the late 50s and early 60s but I'm not sure.
Original enamel advertising signs are highly collectable and since reproduction ones are available, then I guess the latter would be better for external use. Most stations appeared to be festooned with them during late Victorian and Edwardian times from the look of contemporary photos and they make modern advertising look tame!Toddington Tednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8246842529969806828.post-1132491458755357782012-12-29T08:49:07.022+00:002012-12-29T08:49:07.022+00:00I think the 'trolley' was called a'sac...I think the 'trolley' was called a'sack truck'. I only know this from the special plank on the doors of Opens that made a smooth transition when wheeling into the wagon.SWruralhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08194385100414263357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8246842529969806828.post-83734322797682837502012-12-28T11:05:35.829+00:002012-12-28T11:05:35.829+00:00A running in board is a big station name board. Have a look at earlier pictures of the station, you will see one near the footbridge on the down side. The other was near the road bridge on the up side.
The GWR lettering is now in cream, the picture was taken a bit earlier.
Enamel signs are a good idea, but as Bill says genuine ones are very collectable and thus expensive and at risk of theft. In fact, if you want to stay authentic, I don't think Broadway actually had any.Jo https://www.blogger.com/profile/05480195769830116100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8246842529969806828.post-68547754817461091992012-12-28T09:31:31.644+00:002012-12-28T09:31:31.644+00:00We have some enamel signs but good ones are are ra...We have some enamel signs but good ones are are rare/expensive.Billhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01318720512739905663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8246842529969806828.post-23596498747876123952012-12-27T12:36:20.642+00:002012-12-27T12:36:20.642+00:00Do you have any of those advertising old enamel si...Do you have any of those advertising old enamel signs for the station when it's done ? mackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17907522192585853360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8246842529969806828.post-81608158314950343102012-12-27T12:00:15.116+00:002012-12-27T12:00:15.116+00:00....
